About Svara

Svara (Sanskrit: स्वर) means voice, sound, and musical note. It's the word for the fundamental unit of melody in Indian classical music — a single, intentional tone that carries meaning.

We chose the name because that's exactly what a voice note is: a single, intentional message that carries meaning no text message can match.

How It Started

Svara was born inside ZenMode, a LinkedIn automation platform. We wanted to let users send voice notes as part of their outreach sequences — not audio file attachments, but real, native voice notes that show up as the blue waveform in LinkedIn's messaging thread.

That meant figuring out how to deliver native voice notes programmatically. It took weeks of research and engineering: the multi-step upload flow, the audio format requirements, the session management, and the delivery verification.

Once we had LinkedIn working, we added Telegram — which has its own format requirements (OGG/OPUS, not M4A). Then we started building WhatsApp support. Each platform has its own API, its own audio format, its own delivery quirks.

At some point, we realized: every developer building voice note features is solving these same problems from scratch. The platform-specific encoding, the upload flows, the format conversion, the delivery verification. It's weeks of engineering work that has nothing to do with the actual product they're building.

What We Built

Svara is the API we wished existed when we started. One endpoint. You give us text and a target platform. We generate the audio using AI voices, encode it to the correct format, and deliver it as a native voice note. The recipient sees exactly what they'd see if the sender had recorded it in the app.

No audio encoding pipelines. No reverse engineering. No platform-specific delivery code. Just one API call.

Jonathan Lis — Founder and sole developer. Previously built ZenMode, a LinkedIn automation platform used by sales teams for AI-powered outreach. Focused on building developer tools that abstract away platform complexity.
